What is the Catechist / SRE Ministry?                                         

Catechists (SRE teachers) attend public schools during the school term to share their faith with children whose parents have chosen for them to receive Catholic SRE.  Catechists are screened, trained and authorised to teach the program which has been approved by the Bishop of Diocese of Broken Bay.                                                                      

Our curriculum, Walking with Jesus consists of easy to follow lesson plans, engaging activity books and exciting audio visual resources. This vibrant and joyful ministry brings the 'joy of the gospel' and fosters hope, self-giving faithfulness and resilience in the children of our parish.  More information can be found at CCD Broken Bay.

Becoming a Catechist (SRE Teacher or classroom assistant)

STEP 1: Get in touch with our Catechist Coordinator.  Email: catechistslakes@bbcatholic.org.au

STEP 2: Complete the CCD Authorisation Procedure and return documentation to parish office.

STEP 3: Enrol in CCDMI (FREE Compulsory induction training for new catechists).


STEP 4:  Receive your Authorisation Card and begin taking the love of Jesus to the Catholic children

      in our parish public schools.
