PARISH PASTORAL PLAN


PRIORITY AREAS: INTENTS & GOALS


PRIORITY 1:  ‘Welcoming and Inclusive Community’

Intent:Promote participation, inclusion and belonging

Goal 1: Develop welcoming initiatives for current and new members of our
               community.

Goal 2: Promote active participation.

Goal 3:  Promote an environment of inclusion and belonging.


PRIORITY 2:  ‘Education and Formation’

Intent: Encourage and support  ongoing learning and formation.

Goal 4:  Develop an understanding of ‘sharing leadership’.

Goal 5:  Support and resource faith formation.

Goal 6:  Promote and encourage a variety of faith formation opportunities.


PRIORITY 3:  ‘Reaching Out’

Intent: Boldly proclaim Christ present in the world.

Goal 7: Proclaim the Good News of Jesus in words and actions.

Goal 8: Stir a personal and communal response to the need for justice.

Breaking Goals into Strategies



PRIORITY 1:  Welcoming and Inclusive Community

Intent: Promote participation, inclusion and belonging.


Goal 1: Develop welcoming initiatives for current and new members of our community.
    • Strategies:
      1. Implement a consistent approach to ‘welcome’ in both churches.
      2. Evaluate current practices and research  uccessful initiatives implemented in other parishes.

Goal 2: Promote active participation
    • Strategies:
      1. Promote initiatives in the parish.
      2. Provide reasons to participate

Goal 3:  Promote an environment of inclusion and belonging
    • Strategies:
      1. Resource  an inclusive  environment.
      2. Invite and support participation.



 Results we want to see:     Individuals identify as belonging  to a Catholic  
community, are known and feel valued.




PRIORITY 2:  Education and Formation

Intent:   Encourage and support ongoing learning and formation.

Goal 4: Develop an understanding of ‘sharing leadership.
    • Strategies:
      1. Provide an explanation of the new Diocesan structure for the Lakes Catholic Parish.
      2. Provide opportunities for interested parishioners to discuss the concept of sharing leadership.

Goal 5: Support and resource faith formation.
    • Strategies:
      1. Offer support to encourage people to attend faith formation.
      2. Offer financial support to individuals to pursue study beyond parish initiatives.
      3. Research possible activities offered by other parishes or organizations.

Goal 6:  Promote and encourage a variety of faith formation opportunities.
    • Strategies:
      1. Continue to promote existing educational and formation opportunities.
      2. Encourage interested families to work with formation team to identify areas of interest.
      3. Advertise widely through the parish and wider community.
      4. Engage the wider community through their social and sporting activities.
      5. Canvas the needs of existing students.
      6. Encourage interested parishioners to work with faith formation team.
      7. Acknowledge and celebrate attendance.
Results we want to see:     Raised awareness of and participation in faith
 formation  opportunities and an enlivened community.



PRIORITY 3:  Reaching Out

Intent:  Boldly proclaim Christ present in the world.


Goal 7: Proclaim the Good News of Jesus in words and actions.
    • Strategies:
      1. Engage in interfaith dialogue. 
      2. Support and engage parish in the work of the catechists.
      3. Engage with parents in our schools.
      4. Reach out to the sick, elderly and isolated. 
      5. Reach out to singles, divorcees, widows and widowers.
      6. Reach out, engage and encourage youth.

Goal 8: Stir a personal and communal response to the need for justice.
    • Strategies:
      1. Gather stakeholders to discern future activities.
      2. Identify and raise awareness of social justice issues in our community.


Results we want to see:    
Active, vibrant, engaged and caring communities that
live the message of the Gospel; a voice for the voiceless.
